Each year on September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day sparks important conversations and promotes suicide prevention efforts. This is especially crucial in conflict-affected regions like South Sudan, where instability and limited access to care worsen mental health challenges.
Aligned with the WHO’s 2024-2026 campaign, “Start the Conversation,” the day focuses on reducing stigma and fostering open discussions about suicide. This campaign promotes understanding and support—goals that closely reflect HealthNet TPO’s ongoing work in South Sudan.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we share the story of the incredible empowerment event that brought together 24 women in Bogotá this February to discuss strategies for advocacy and unity against gender-based violence (GBV). Different contexts, same challenge: Psychosocial wellbeing, peacebuilding and gender-based violence in Colombia and South Sudan
On the 21st September, the inaugural webinar in a series on MHPSS and Peacebuilding explored the cultural and gendered sensitivities in both countries and why these are crucial for advancing peacebuilding, enhancing psychosocial wellbeing.
