It is with great pride that we congratulate Professor Koos van der Velden on his appointment as Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion.

Koos has been a member of our Board of Directors since 2013, bringing his expertise in public health, infectious disease control and health systems development to help us achieve our mission.

Koos received his award from the Mayor of de Bilt. He said this was “an extraordinary and fantastic surprise. My wife was allowed to pin the medal on because of Covid restrictions, which made it all extra special. A beautiful day with good weather, what more could a person want!”

Koos has also been a professor of Public Health at Radboud University Medical Centre from 2004-2018. You can read more about his achievements and contributions to Public Health here. ​
