The people of Afghanistan need our help

placeholder

Afghanistan is facing a humanitarian crisis. Thousands of people are displaced, many of whom need urgent medical care. Civilian casualties are at a record high meaning more people than ever need medical attention. Many people face poverty, food insecurity as well as ongoing violence and rising Covid-19 infections.

International donors like the EU and the World Bank have stopped any disbursements for development projects. HealthNet TPO is continuing our health and mental health services across Afghanistan, but we need your support now more than ever to continue. HealthNet TPO is continuing our health and mental health services across Afghanistan, but we need your support. HealthNet TPO runs health and mental health programmes across 34 provinces of Afghanistan with more than 2,700 Afghan staff, including doctors, nurses, midwives, counsellors, psychiatrist, vaccinators and more. We operate 116 health facilities, seven provincial and district hospitals, four Covid-19 hospitals and emergency mobile health clinics to provide essential, emergency and specialised healthcare to more than 1.5 million people.

We are now in a crisis

Many people cannot access the care they need. Whilst our clinics, hospitals and Covid-19 hospitals have not stopped providing urgent medical care, they are overstretched with shortages of staff and supplies.

Our dedicated Afghan colleagues are working tirelessly. To continue they must receive their salaries so they can provide for their families.

Covid-19 hospitals are lacking oxygen and there is a severe shortage of medicines and food for patients. With the ongoing disruption across the country hospitals cannot get the everyday medical supplies they need.

Covid-19 is still a very serious threat in Afghanistan; the country is only just recovering from a deadly third wave of infections. More than 7000 people have died since the start of the pandemic. With mass displacement of people from remote to crowded urban areas and a poor vaccination scheme, an inevitable fourth wave of Covid-19 could be catastrophic.

We are very concerned about the safety of the Afghan people

HealthNet TPO remains committed and operational to support the health and wellbeing of the people of Afghanistan as we have done since 1994. We cannot continue without your support.
